MINDS

Thick plane shell in generalized plane state

Description

Element for mechanical analysis with plane shells in generalized plane state (NTANA=7, IANA=5).

Thick plane membrane element with 2 nodes; the base theory is Mindlin (energy of shear taken into account). The two displacements of the center line U and V and the rotation of the normal Δθ are interpolated isoparametrically (linear interpolation). The thickness is actualized.

The shear angle between the normal and the perpendicular to the center line is assumed to be small (small shear deformations).

The numerical integration is done using 1 Gauss point.

The available material laws are laws HILSH and ILYSH.

Up to 5 elements of contact/load can be coupled to this element (the coupling consists in the remoteness, equal to half the thickness, of the surface of contact with respect to the mean axis). Type: 42
Implemented by: L. Grisard, 1991
